Do you need the Japanese encephalitis vaccination?
Vaccination against Japanese encephalitis is not available on the NHS but may be available privately through your pharmacist. You may also be able to get this vaccination privately through your Practice Nurse at your GP.
Vaccination is given as two injections four weeks apart. The second injection must be given a week before you travel. You may require a booster vaccine if you are still in or re-visit an at-risk area after 2 years. Regardless of whether you have been vaccinated, it's important to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites when in at-risk areas.
